A Process for a Painting

During these 90 days of my Zero Point Food Paintings I have been exploring how to produce a painting. My basic standard is to have a good drawing because the work I do is representational and it's important to me to be accurate at this point in my journey. After this there's various ways to work. I could work from dark to light, light saturated colour to dark dull colour, background to foreground or start in at the focal point then work outwards.

I've tried them all and I'm trying to settle on the one I like most. I enjoy the results best from a combo of saturated colour to dark dull colour and focal point then outwards for the still life art. But what really works is what's best for the situation that I'm presented with! My approach to landscape paintings are different than still life paintings. I tend to work dark to light on landscapes because I like to establish my shadows first.

Here's a video of my latest process for a still life painting. Do you ever stop to think about your process when producing something creative? Would it benefit from a change?
