A MidSummer Night

10"x 8" oil on linen panel
It's midsummer! Here in Colorado summer got a late start but all that rain brought out the glorious parts of July and August - VACATION! Yes, I've been out enjoying the opportunities of the terrific weather with my family. Swimming, sightseeing, sunshine, paddle boarding, flowers, ice cream and so many other joys that feed my soul.
My husband took our family back to his home town in upstate NY. As he drove us around, he was pointing out all of his favorite spots from his childhood. The ice cream stand where he'd stop after his baseball games was still there! Of course, we had to get an ice cream. The sun had gone down, the heat of the day was gone and it was a little bit late. We sat at a picnic table in the balmy evening trying to finish our cones before they melted yet it was a peaceful quiet time. That moment sent me back to my childhood, it may have been a different place but the feeling was the same.
It got me thinking, we all have moments in life that are common, what are your favorite summer time highlights? What kind of moments invoke the warmth of the season for you? Send a reply and maybe your moment will become the subject of one of my paintings! But, most of all, I hope you've gotten to take some time off to enjoy the good weather!
